Abstract:
Alcohol use disorders is a major public health issue with about 10% of the adult population affected by this disease. Despite a global decrease in the total amount of alcohol consumed over the last decades, some specific paterns of consumption remain high and stable such as binge drinking. Binge drinking is usually defined as a large amount of alcohol consumed over a short period of time. In thispresentation I willgive an overview of whatisknown on this specific alcohol-related behavior and its consequences. I willthenpresent an animal model of binge drinking wedevelopped in ourlaboratory in Amiens. Finally I will focus the second part of the presentation on the use of this model in order to develop new treatments such as the differentenantiomers of baclofen and psychedelics (psilocybin).
