Une autre catégorie vient compléter le palmarès en mettant en l'honneur le bâtiment du CRBS.
Tous les résidents du CRBS ont été invités à participer à ce concours et ils ont également été appelés à voter pour les plus belles images.

On this photo, a mouse has free access to 3 compartments: one central which is neutral and two other opposite compartments each containing a cup, either empty (left compartment in the photo) or with a potential social partner inside (right compartment). This test is called the social preference test. At the beginning of the test, mice will naturally prefer being in the compartment associated with the social target compared to the compartment with the empty cup. Maria Jesūs GARCIA LEON, U 1109, a remporté le prix dans la catégorie "Image microscopique". Nous savons que les plaquettes sanguines jouent un rôle essentiel dans la métastase d'un cancer. Sur cette image microscopique sont représentées des cellules du cancer de sein enveloppées par des plaquettes sanguines.
It is well stablished that blood platelets play a role in cancer metastasis. However the mechanisms explaining the observation are not yet well understood. This image shows one of the mechanism proposed. Platelets are able to actively bind (and activate) to the surface of circulating tumor cells (CTCs), thus protecting them from blood flow forces, cytotoxic immune cells, and supporting proliferation, survival and metastatic potential. In this sense, platelets seems to provide CTSs of a « shield » against all odds.
